NFL Superbowl Over... Now It's Time for the Good Stuff...

Okay, maybe NASCAR isn't the "GOOD" stuff. But it is a heck of a lot better than waiting for the four feet of snow at the track to melt in April so we can watch local/live racing. Besides, a local favourite is racing ARCA and possibly the Camping World Truck Series over the next several months before our tracks get geared up.

I had the chance to watch the Superbowl and thankfully cheering for the Green Bay Packers actually worked in my favour! It actually was a pretty good game, much better than last year. Luckily, as one season ends, another one starts... Tomorrow night is the "unofficial" start to the NASCAR season with the Bud Shootout. Even though the race is an exhibition, it will give us first hand taste of what the new track is like and give us a small preview of what may come for the Duels on Thursday and the eventual Daytona 500. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the season opener for the ARCA series as well, and I am sure there will be PLENTY of people watching Steve Arpin run for a win. He qualified 3rd, giving him track position that will probably be very important tomorrow.

A sure sign of spring is the NASCAR season. Even with temperatures hanging around the freezing mark for the next week in the Northwest of Ontario, it is much too cold to think about racing here... so, at the very least, we can get excited about the local season by prepping the big screen. :)
